The challenge
The existing roof was at the end of its service life. On a flat roof that usually means water has been sitting in the build-up for some time, with consequences for the structure below.
The true condition of the roof structure only becomes visible once the old build-up is off.
Our approach
The existing build-up was fully removed, after which the roof structure was assessed before anything new went on.
Where the structure had deteriorated, it was repaired before the new build-up was installed.
Detailing around upstands, penetrations and outlets was resolved - that's where flat roofs actually leak, not in the field.
Outcome
A new roof build-up on a structure that has been assessed and repaired where needed.
What we found after stripping was reported before we continued. No surprises on the final account.
